France and Italy lost!
Defending World Cup champion France lost for the first time in eight months, falling 2-1 to Belgium on Marc Wilmots’ goal in injury time. In Prague, Vladimir Smicer scored as the Czech Republic beat three-time champion World Cup champion Italy 1-0. Germany thrashed Austria 6-2 in their last warm-up game before the World Cup, but an injury sustained by valued midfielder Sebastian Deisler marred the demolition.
